About the Pub

The Lindsey Rose is a traditional country pub, one of the oldest pubs in the country, over 500 years old! Based in at the village of Lindsey in the heart of Suffolk. Lindsey is a small village with a population of just over 100 people.

The pub reopened in 2017 following renovation. Other than these works, the pub is keeping to the pub’s roots as a traditional pub serving locally sourced pub food.

Historic Interest

A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 15 Jan in 1847 states that : The Bell, Kersey, occupier Mr Wm GRIMWADE (Copyhold) & premises in Lindsey Tye, formerly known as The Rose, occupier Mr Vincent ARTHY at £6 per annum.</blockquote> A report in the Ipswich Journal*** in May 1870 states that : Married on the 17th, at Lyndsey, by Rev. C G Moore, vicar, Mr John Arthy, of the Rose Inn, to Edith, only daughter of the late Mr Fenner, veterinary surgeon. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at
