About the Pub
Featuring a memorial stone marked 1680, this is thought to be the town's oldest pub. Formerly owned by Edward Roberts & Son of Farnley Tyas and then Bentley's Yorkshire Breweries, it was a free house from 1984 for 20 years, then bought by Punch. Rear bar has many sporting team pictures and memorabilia while the L-shaped lounge featuring open fires provides a cosy atmosphere.
Historic Interest
Memorial stone dated 1680. In late 1700s became a coach house and in early 1800s became a pub. Earliest recorded landlord George Hepworth 1826-1827 followed by 29 others up to present day.
