About the Pub

Licensed 1852 and rebuilt in 1938, this is a small, friendly, family-run sidestreet pub near Marylebone Station with wood panelling throughout and a raised seating area to the rear.

On offer is a carefully-selected well-kept range of up to six real ales often from smaller breweries. The venue's proximity to the Chiltern Line terminus generates early evening trading with thirsty commuters en route home and, unusually, beers from breweries near the railway have been known to travel down on the train and end up at the pub! In common with many pubs, the number of ales available may depend on the day of week. The Thai food, provided by a catering concession, is highly rated.

There is a strong Rugby Union connection here (the Wasps) and the pub may open at the weekend for big games being shown on television; note that some sports viewing here is by ticket admission only. The London Group of the Philosophical Society of England is one of the community organisations that regularly meet at the pub.
