About the Pub

Built in 1840. Now a large, comfortable and friendly gays pub just off the Kings Road. This pub has always lived up to its name even as far back to the early post war years, when it was part of the old Chelsea ‘scene’. There are three separate drinking spaces around an island bar; the smaller front bar is known as the ‘snug’ or ‘straights’ bar. Karaoke every Saturday fortnight. A planning application in 2012 to convert the site into three houses was subsequently dismissed on appeal.

Following unresolved discussions with the landlord about lease terms, the pub closed on 7 Sept. 2016. Stonegate Pub Co acting under a licence to occupy from "TCG in administration" handed the pub back to the landlords on 13 Sept 2016. A statement in Aug. 2016 by PR consultants acting for the freeholder, has said that the freeholder is fully committed to keeping this site as a pub.

An Asset of Community Value application has been made to Kensington & Chelsea Council by a community group, see http://savethequeensheadchelsea.blogspot.co.uk/
