About the Pub
Previous description follows.
A wedge-shaped building contains a narrow single bar, rebuilt in 1936 with a tiled exterior. First licensed in 1852 as a beer house, it later became part of Goring & Jenkins Lion Brewery Estate. After many years as a family-run establishment the venue was substantially refurbed in summer 2015 and reopened as what is described as an intimate neighbourhood pub. Inside some original features have been uncovered with period light fittings, wood-panelled walls from local churches and a giant hour-glass sculpture.
Food is of the snacking, grazing and platter-sharing variety.
