NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Under this stage of the roadmap in England pubs can only open outdoor areas and many will only be open for customers who have pre-booked. Alcohol can now also be sold for takeaway, as well as delivery.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

Attractive half-timbered building on the Dee Estuary overlooking an RSPB nature reserve. Beware the occasional high tides that lap right up to the pub walls. Bought by Hydes in 2016 and refurbished, reopening in April 2017. Freshly prepared food is served until 9.30pm (9pm Sun), with fish the speciality. A haven for nature lovers, good beer and food fans alike. 50p off cask ales on Monday.

Historic Interest

The Beer House or the Ferry House Inn originally stood on this site dating back to at least 1613. Listed in Pigot's Directory of 1828-29 as the Flint & Bagilt Ferry House. In the mid mid 1840s it changed name to Pengwern Arms but then listed as the Boat House in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850. The pub was badly damaged by a storm in 1881, demolished 4 years later and the site was unoccupied for 40 years. The present pub was built in 1926 as a cafe and became a pub again in the early 1960s.
