About the Pub

Former coaching inn, reputedly over 300 years old, this cozy popular pub by the edge of Storeton Woods has a country pub feel. Decorated throughout with brasses and bric-a-brac. All beers are served from a central bar, to the main area and two side rooms. The guest ales are sometimes from local microbreweries. One changing real cider. At lunchtime the emphasis is on serving food, but in the evening this is very much a traditional pub. Lockdown Hero Award 2021.

Historic Interest

Dating back as a pub to at least 1860, taken over from the Argyle Brewery (Cook Brothers) by Birkenhead Brewery in 1866 - see early photo of the pub taken about 1910. Also at some time it may have been a West Cheshire Brewery pub. Selling Whitbread beers in the 1980s.
