NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub
The pub reopened in April 2018 after a period of closure. A former coaching inn built in 1732, it is now a thriving locals' pub with a lounge, small bar and a games room. In addition to the five permanent beers there are between two and three guests from the Thwaites list or from other breweries. Live music on Saturday night and quiz night on Sunday. Free car parking is available nearby.
The pub is adjacent to Mayer Park and a short walk from Port Sunlight Village, founded by William Hesketh Lever in 1888 to house his soap factory workers. In the village is the Lady Lever Art Gallery, home to one of the most beautiful collections of art in the country. The black & white photos show the pub in 1980 and 1983.
Historic Interest
A former coaching inn built in 1732 although there is thought to have been a pub on this site listed in the Ale House Register in 1561. Shown on Bryant's map of 1831 as the Rose & Crown and listed in Bagsaw's Directory of 1850. It was purchased by Birkenhead Brewery in 1879. (Birkenhead Brewery was subsequently taken over by Threlfalls in 1962 then Whitbread in 1967). The pub was acquired by Thwaites in the early 1970s.
