About the Pub
This pub is situated next to Lowestoft's bascule bridge. Mainly now a restaurant, but there are stools at the bar for drinkers. Local road improvements made in 2007 mean that the pub is surrounded on three sides by a paved area which is part of a major esplanade improvement. Outside there is a patio area for smokers. Faith night club is upstairs above this pub.
Historic Interest
Originating as a Coach House in 1849 and re-opened in April 2014. Also listed at London Rd South. In 1900 had a reputation for "supplying the finest & purest wines & spirits on the East Coast". In June 1982 edition of Last Orders it was reported that the Harbour Hotel was closed in 1978 by Trumans & had subsequently reopened as Oakwood (Free House) for a while before being sold to Courage "recently". Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolkcamra.co.uk/pubs/pub/653
