About the Pub

A popular community pub, refurbished and extended in 2012 to give greater prominence to food but still retaining a traditional Tap Room (the “Danny Vault”). It is situated on the main road approximately half way between Urmston and Stretford, close to the Goblin pie factory (Simpson’s). There is ample car parking and five bus routes stop outside. The pub is fully accessible.

Entrances at the front and on the east side lead directly into the main bar area where the four handpumps are prominent. To the left are predominantly dining areas, with the new extension at the west end. This latter forms a kind of conservatory. It can be used as a function room, in which case it is divided off by curtains. A door at the right hand side of the bar leads into the Tap Room, which now looks a little like a gentlemen’s club, but with a pool table where one might expect a snooker table. A back door leads from the Tap Room to a new smoking shelter. This and a second smoking shelter on the west side have infra-red heaters.

There are tables outside, some more or less in the car park, others to the rear, where there is also a children’s play area.

There is plentiful parking on three sides of the pub making it a popular destination for diners. The menu is mostly standard pub fare, with a roast added on Sundays. The children’s menu is particularly good value, with “mini meals” at just £2.95 (£4.95 with a drink and dessert). Wines come from Willoughby’s, the vintners owned by Lees’.
