NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub
Big, classic community pub in a remarkable French-style building that has adorned Urmston since the time of the Battle of Trafalgar. Although no longer a truly multi-room pub, it has several distinct areas, with the “best room” on the right as you enter from the main road, and a rather Spartan vault at the rear. The décor throughout has been updated at frequent intervals, with such things as posing tables making an appearance. Although the best sellers are cask ales and lagers, the pub also has a specialised gin bar. The ales once came in hogsheads; now the bitter is usually in firkins and the mild in pins, to ensure rapid turnover and top quality. At holiday times the beer comes in barrels, such is the demand.
During the day the pub is a quiet, relaxing place, but that all changes when there are big football matches on (the pub broadcasts Sky and BT games on TVs in every room). Tuesday night features the extremely long running quiz (from about 9.30), and Saturday night has the infamous Disco Erotica.
The Nellie and its long serving licensees are deservedly famous for their fundraising activities on behalf of local charities like the Christie Hospital. This is one of many reasons why the local branch has voted it as Branch Community Pub of the Year on several occasions.
Please note that the pub has a strict age policy – over 18 years of age only, in all areas. If using a wheelchair, access is easier from the car park at the back, but unfortunately there is no disabled toilet yet.
Dogs are welcome but may be upset by the noise and crowds when big football matches are broadcast.
