About the Pub

** Closed July 2021 and acquired by Greene King, will reopen in September 2021 as a gastropub **.

Part of the Victorian Chop House Company which has two other bars in Manchester and one in Leeds, The Albert Square Chop House opened in November 2012 in Thomas Worthington’s iconic Memorial Hall building on the corner of Manchester's Albert Square. In a previous life, the building housed the Square Albert pub but had lain closed for ten years before being given new life as a Chop House.

As with the other Chop House venues, the focus is very much on dining with a dedicated 80 cover restaurant downstairs and the main bar area also set out for dining with a bar menu available. Beer prices are on the high side, even by Central Manchester standards but there is a 20% discount on cask ales on presentation of a CAMRA membership card.
