About the Pub
This two storey 18th century hostelry with two late 19th century single-storey extensions was formerly known as the Shakespeare Tavern and from 1858 until the early 1990s as the London Tavern after which it was the Everybody's Inn. It is situated across the road from the Theatre Royal and its association with it is indeed long lived, with many famous Thespians agonizing over their lines in the bar. The pub was taken over in July 2015 by Carl & Nancy Hilliard of the Ales of the Unexpected micropub who have reverted back to its former name. It reopened on 27 November 2015 after having a complete refit.
