About the Pub
An attractive two-bar 1950s brick building built to replace original demolished during the war and now extended with a conservatory. Rescued from likely permanent closure in 1994 by Hop Back Brewery;this is their only London pub
Mostly carpeted with dark wood walls. Furnished with large tables (to encourage conversation) with chairs and some fixed seating and some settees in the conservatory.
Beer Club on Monday and Wednesday (6pm to 9pm) when cask beers are discounted by 50p a pint. Wine club Thursday (6pm to 9pm) when house wines are cheaper. Soup and Sandwiches available during opening hours. Three day beer festivals held usually in April and September.
Current (2016) CAMRA South West London Branch Pub of the Year, having also won the ballot in 2003, 2001, 1999 and 1995. It is a past winner of the CAMRA London Regional Pub of the Year award
A micro brewery (now removed) was in production for the first half of 2015 and the pub's name included 'brew pub' in the signage for a time.
