About the Pub

Reverted to previous name in April 2017 after a short-lived experiment as Burger Shack & Bar with cask beer discontinued but drinkers welcome to sample unusual keg and expensive local bottled selection.

Real ale had been reinstated in late 2012 following Young's takeover from Punch (Spirit) in 2006 and it was styled as a 'bar & kitchen' more than a pub. Until 2000 it had been the Castle.

Note: the fire stables were actually behind the nearby Dog & Fox.

Although a real ale from Wells or Young's (Marston Bedford) is once again available, the place is marketed as a restaurant and is not keen to welcome non-dining drinkers.
