About the Pub

Mid Anglia's newest Community Pub. Also popularly known as the "Low House", and bought from Adnams by the Community in May 2018, this timeless, multi-roomed and thatched building is a classic pub which is always worth a visit. The main room features listed high back settles set around a small fireplace, whilst the beer is served on gravity direct from a small tap room to rear. A separate dining room offers an interesting menu of locally sourced food & including a Sunday roast but NOT on Sunday evening. An enclosed garden & patio to rear is also available. Accommodation available in an outside building.

Historic Interest

In 1861 listed at Market st A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 07 Jun in 1873 states that : Auction by the executors of the late B.C. ETHERIDGE Esq - three pubs including - The King's Head Inn, Laxfield, in the occupation of Mr George PEAD & others. Owned by Adnams brewery until 1971 Bought by John Horsman in 1972-81 In Apr/May 1982 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that the pub was reopening soon & in the Jun/July edition it was reported as reopened. Pub was closed 1991-92 Reopened & owned by Tony Harvey (local farmer) 1992-2001 Re-acquired by Adnams brewery in 2001 The building dates from the 16th century, with an 18th century extension.
