NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Under this stage of the roadmap in England pubs can only open outdoor areas and many will only be open for customers who have pre-booked. Alcohol can now also be sold for takeaway, as well as delivery.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

A former coaching inn and local inland revenue office once known as the Unicorn, now a very friendly free house. Parts of the original building are still visible. Various rooms are served by a small central bar. Interesting selection of beers, both local & national, often including those from the nearby Izaak Walton Brewery. Restored and refurbished in 2017. CAMRA Heart of Staffordshire Pub of the Season for Winter 2019. Excellent, well run pub, warm & cosy in winter. One not to be missed.

Historic Interest

The oldest parts of the building date back to the mid 16th century and it has been an inn since the early 17th century, a stopping point for coaches on the London Chester route.
