About the Pub

An unspoilt example of a 19th century canalside pub. Built around 1830 on the Shropshire Union Canal, England's last narrow trunk canal. It has been run by the same family since 1870. The right-hand room has a quarry-tile floor, two high-back settles, window bench and scrubbed tables which create a timeless atmosphere. In winter the pub only opens Friday evenings, Saturday lunchtimes & evenings and Sunday lunchtimes.

NOTE: spring, summer and early autumn hours are likely to be 12-2.30 & 7-11 every day but may vary. It is always advisable to check if travelling any distance.

Historic Interest

Unchanged Victorian canalside pub.
