About the Pub

Currently closed undergoing refurbishment. Should reopen in March. A 400-year-old roadside inn at the west edge of the village, only five minutes' walk from the bus stop. With oak beams, flagged floors and open fires, it is a building with considerable charm. Drinkers are welcome and locally sourced food is served. Walkers will find it close to the Pennine Way, Bronte Way and Millennium Way. The house beer "Old Silent" is a 3.6% golden ale and there are up to three other guest beers which are usually from local breweries within a 20-mile radius. Generally three beers are available in summer and four in winter. At busy dining times priority is given to diners at all tables.
