Updates

Re-opened to the public on July 6th. Expected to participate in 'Eat Out to Help Out' government meal voucher scheme (Mon-Wed in August), as part of Greene King's company-wide arrangement with the government.

Due to reduced capacity following social distancing rules, it is advised that you book using our online system. This is for dining and drinking tables. Download the Greene King App. You are welcome to visit us without a booking but please be mindful that you may need to queue until we can seat you. There will a designated host in place ready to welcome you on arrival. There will be a one way system throughout the pub, as well as a one entrance and a separate exit. The maximum table size we can accept at present is for 6. Once seated we ask our guests to remain at their tables except for visits to the toilet facilities or the designated smoking area. You can order all your food and drink from our app. There will however be one till open on the bar if you do not have access to a smartphone. Please follow our Pub Safe guidelines which the host will explain on your arrival, and are detailed throughout the pub. There are numerous hand sanitiser stations located around the pub for you to use. We will be running a reduced menu for now, there’s still plenty of your favourites on there though. Please be patient with our team, this is a whole new way of working for us and our sole focus is providing a great experience to you, whilst keeping everybody safe. There will be a designated safety monitor on at all times if you need any assistance or have any queries. We will also be offering takeaway - keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

About the Pub

Probably Skipton's oldest pub built in 1205, the Red Lion also claims to be Skipton's most haunted. Serving up to eight real ales, a mixture of two or three from the Greene King range and several from local micros, it can get busy at weekends and when major sporting events are shown on the large-screen TVs; the tasteful smoking area at the back also has a TV. The main bar features a large original fireplace and there is a small, quieter room set back from the hubbub of the bar. Breakfast is available 10 to noon. Main meals start at 11. There is disabled access to parts of the pub including toilet facilities via the rear door, but there are steps to the bar.
