NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever as they recover following the pandemic.

Indoor service has now resumed, but social distancing measures and table service are still compulsory, and you may need to book in advance.

Please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

Reopened outside in April and inside on May 17th 2021. Open from 12 noon, food served daily 12 noon - 8pm as normal. Tables can be booked for drinking or dining by ringing the pub. Current Covid-restrictions apply (all customers must register for Test and Trace, rule of 6, table service, masks must be worn when moving around the pub, etc.)

A one-way system is in operation. Enter via the main door, where you will be met by a member of staff, sign in for Test and Trace and be taken to your table in the garden. Exit via the garden and side gate.

4 cask beers are available, normally including a dark beer. These change regularly, although on one pump Theakston Best Bitter and Settle Mainline alternate. The twice-monthly Monday evening bingo quiz will restart immediately; tables MUST be booked in advance for this.

About the Pub

Dating originally from 1642 and claiming to be the oldest pub in town, this family run free house is a bright welcoming place to drink. There's a large stone feature fireplace to the left of the main entrance and pool table, dartboard, and dominoes tables. To the rear, the large terraced beer garden is a good place to soak up any summer sun. The three changing beers (four in spring and summer) tend to be from Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire and at least one beer brewed by one or other of the Settle breweries is usually available in addition to the Mainline. One dark beer is always available, usually a stout, a porter or Theakston Old Peculier. The one rotating cider is fetched from the cellar - check the small board on the bar to see what is available. Good value food is served 12-8 seven days a week. Traditional Sunday lunches are served on Sundays 12-6 or until they run out if earlier. A 'bingo quiz' is held on the first and third Monday of each month, the other Mondays being board games nights. Key sporting events are sometimes shown on the television in the games area, if they are available on terrestrial channels. Live music most Fridays. Darts, dominoes and pool teams play Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through the winter. Joint Branch Pub of the Year 2019.
