Updates

Re-opening to the public on July 4th – Expected to participate in 'Eat Out to Help Out' government meal voucher scheme (Mon-Wed in August).

Our team members will be wearing face visors for everyone’s safety. There will be numerous hand sanitisers available throughout the premises as well as the option of soap and water in the bathrooms. Our bathrooms are being limited to single person entry. We will have a one way system in place for where you can enter and leave the building and how to safely move around. We will not be offering any bar service and we politely ask that no customers approach the bar. Table service will be offered for all food and drink orders. Standing or sitting at the bar will not be allowed at present and either will vertical drinking inside the building (you must have a seat/table). We will not be accepting cash at present – only card and would prefer contactless card payments where possible. We will need to take details of all customers and securely keep these details for 21 days – further information on this will be given when you visit. We will be running a reduced menu and food will only be served 12-3pm and 6-9pm. Takeaway on some dishes will also be available. We strongly advise booking your table in advance as due to reduced capacity we can not guarantee you a table if this is not done. As per government advice we are not allowed to accept bookings of more than 6 people per table and this should not currently be from more than 2 households. For our residents we have had to alter our check in time to allow the rooms to vacant for longer between guests to ventilate fully and to perform deep cleans. We are asking residents to consider wearing their own face masks on communal corridors within the hotel as per guidance. We will not be able to service your rooms at this time but will put something in place to ensure you still get everything you need whilst staying with us.

Chinese takeaway every weekend, 5-8.30pm Friday and Saturday. Telephone orders during opening hours.
Ceased 2nd May 2020.

About the Pub

Situated in the centre of this popular Dales village, the Black Horse is a 17th century inn. Recently decorated, the half stone-flagged, half carpeted, L-shaped main bar area has a bright feel and is warmed by a large log fire. An extensive food menu is available in both the main bar, or the separate dining room. Accommodation is in 15 en-suite bedrooms. Quiz Wednesday. It was known as the King William IV until the end of the 18th century and later as the Prince Albert. A room at the rear of the hotel housed the Uppper Wharfedale Museum until it moved to new premises in the square in 1979. From 7.30pm on Tuesdays the local Ukulele group plays in the bar area.
