About the Pub

16th-century former coaching inn at the heart of village life. The modernised open interior has a spacious L-shaped lounge bar with comfortable table seating and settees in front of a huge old fireplace containing a log-burning stove. There is a separate area for dining and a further separate dining room. Good-value home-cooked food is served. The pub is reputedly haunted by a friendly ghost called Mary. There is a key in a recess above the lounge fireplace which, if moved, is said to bring bad luck to those concerned. Quiz and Play Your Cards Right/Bingo alternate on Wednesday evenings. The dining room is open during the day from 9 am, alcohol also served from 9 am. The changing beers are from breweries such as Timothy Taylor's, Jennings, Lees, Saltaire and Bowland.
