About the Pub

The Bridges is the reincarnation of the former Horseshoe Inn. Having been bought by the Three Tuns Brewery of Bishops Castle as its first tap house, it has been an ambitious and successful redevelopment project. The aim was to create a classic rural pub and the results since its reopening in August 2011 are impressive.

The lounge/dining room has features such as an open log fire, exposed original (and atrociously laid!) brickwork, and a random range of rustic seating. Drinks are served from a beautifully crafted bar in the “Wet Room”. This is a small room akin to a snug, which also leads to a "garden room". This is nicely done and is a pleasant place, with its large windows looking out onto the garden and Darnford Brook. Accommodation has been created in the tasteful restoration of two old and redundant buildings. So, all in all, the Bridges has a lot going for it, such as its archetypal location by the East Onny river, the proximity of prime walking country on the Long Mynd and Stiperstones, the starting point for walk number 15 in the Walking with Offa series, and access by the summer only Shropshire Hills Shuttle bus. And now of course it proudly displays the Three Tuns brand! Up to 7 beers from the Three Tuns portfolio are served according to seasonal availability. So, it is all the more encouraging to see the revitalization of what is essentially a very remote rural pub.

If one wants to appreciate the delightful rural surroundings why not venture out into the garden. The Darnford Brook runs alongside the lawned area, but maybe a surprise will be the superb raised boarded patio. Observant visitors may notice a hatch in the boarding. Could it be to have access to stray foxes hiding there?
