NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.
Updates
Please see pub Facebook or website for details of any take-out or delivery services available and any news about future reopening. Updated 19 Jan.

About the Pub
Now describing itself as a 'Riverbar & Grill', this ex Southams half timbered building dating from the 15th century can be reached via a footbridge from the Quarry Park. The low oak beamed interior was refurbished in 2013 and provides a bright and modern look, and from certain parts you can also have a river view. The facilities also include the Boatshed, which is a private function room. Note that prices are at the top end of the local range.
Any references to accommodation are just a pointer to the sister venue, the Lion & Pheasant Hotel which is about a mile downstream following the pleasant riverside path (closer to half a mile if the more direct route through the town is taken).
A Good Beer Guide regular in the 1980s/1990s, these days most tables are laid out for food showing a change in emphasis. Even so, there is still a choice of interesting, well-kept ales, albeit a tad on the expensive side.
Historic Interest
A little known fact (perhaps) is that, at the time of the Plague, the cellars had a more grisly function. They were used as a charnel house, storing the corpses of Shrewsbury's plague victims.
