Indoor service has now resumed, but social distancing measures and table service are still compulsory, and you may still need to book in advance.

Please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

Bassbox is Sheffield's newest venue. Each month we bring our event 'Caution', supplying the best in Jungle, Jump Up & Rollers

Historic Interest

This music venue started life as a jazz club in the 1930s. During the 60s and 70s it was known as the Mucky Duck and the Black Swan. In the 60s Joe Cocker was a regular performer. The Black Swan hosted The Clash’s first ever gig on the 4th July 1976, as the opening act for The Sex Pistols. As the Boardwalk in 2004 the venue gave it's name to Beneath the Boardwalk, the demo CD circulated by the Arctic Monkeys; the band used to play gigs here and Alex Turner used to work behind the bar.
