About the Pub

A traditional and very welcoming village local pub listed as an Asset of Community Value in the Summer 2014. The pub has an open plan layout with a lounge/dining room and an adjoining snug/bar together with a separate function room in the back. All areas of the pub are served from a central, oval shaped wooden bar. Real fire and stove, with attractive friezes above the fireplaces in the dining room. Home-cooked food and traditional roast dinners available on Sunday lunchtimes, table booking on Sunday advised. There are a couple of seats outside the front of the pub, but the jewel in the crown is the very extensive private rear garden complete with wonderful views, with the added bonus of an 18 hole pitch and putt golf course and barbecue facility, perfect for relaxation in spring and summer. Quiz night is alternate Wednesdays.

Historic Interest

The pretty flint and brick building dating from the 18th century, with documents relating to the first sale of the house in 1786. In 1835 the house, orchard and barns were bought by a brewer and the building was known as 'The Windmill Brew Shop'. In 1863 the outbuildings at the from were pulled down and rebuilt in flint and brick. (Source: Pub Website)
