About the Pub
Closed in November 2019 and it's future is unknown.
A sad situation for a former local CAMRA Branch Pub of the Year.
The pub is only a few minutes walk from the town centre down West Street. This is a cosy pub with a nautical themed interior. There is a mix of comfortable seating available. Simple wooden flooring and an occasional log fire add to this homely interior.
Beer range had recently been reduced, following a change of landlord who has not been offered the Local Heroes tenancy that the pub previously enjoyed. Reports have be received that real ale may not always be available.
There is a pub quiz the second Tuesday of every month and film nights on Wednesdays at 8 pm from May 2019. The freehold of the pub is currently up for sale.
Historic Interest
The pub used to be a row of cottages which was converted around 250 years ago. It was a stopping point for sailors between Portsmouth and London.
