About the Pub

For countless years a simple country pub with a dartboard and Skittle Alley, new owners had a major refurb in 2015, removing the dartboard, and turning the Skittle Alley into a restaurant area. The latter remains, but, thankfully, darts has now been re-established by the new lease-holder. The single bar is decorated with wooden beams and horse brasses, and divided into three small, separate areas, with plenty of comfortable seating. Much work has also been done in the rear garden area, creating both a beer-garden and a separate children’s play area. Quiz nights on Wednesdays, and live entertainment twice monthly (music and/or comedians). Food is available every day from 12-9. After nomination by the local Branch of CAMRA the pub was awarded the status of an ACV (Asset of Community Value) by Surrey Heath Borough Council in 2015.

Historic Interest

The pub is located opposite a Waitrose supermarket, where nurserymen in the late 19th century would fill their bottles with beer and take them to work, to quench their thirst. This could be the reason why Mr Draper, the owner of the building, agreed to sell it in 1895 to H&G Simmons brewers, based in Reading. Mr Draper then became the Foresters Arms’ first landlord.
