About the Pub

Originally built in the 1810 as the headquarters of George Wright & Co, a firm who made elaborate stoves and fireplaces. It later became a pub/restaurant called the Coach House and latterly the Snail, after it's location. Following it's closure in the 2000's, it suffered an arson attack which did significant damage. Reopened, following a £400,000 plus refurbishment, by a local business man on 6th July 2018. The building has a grade II listing and much of the original interior has been retained during the refurbishment. It now features two bars, a restaurant, function room and seven letting rooms. There are two open terraces, one to the front and one at the rear. Each of the letting rooms is named after a local historic figure. Real ale is no longer served but Franciscan Well craft keg and bottled beers are. A vintage Citroen van serves as a snack bar on the front terrace. Recently won a restoration award from the Rotherham District Civic Society.

Historic Interest

Grade II listed, former office headquarters of the George Wright Ironmongery company, who made stoves and fireplaces, dating from 1810. Used as a pub & restaurant from the 1980's until the 2000's.
