NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.
Updates
Re-opens on the 4th of July. See website for details.
Please have a read of the key points below if you’re thinking of visiting soon:
⭐️ Please book a table. Wether you are visiting us for drinks only or for a meal! You can book online, via the vintage inns app or over the phone on 01709726911.
⭐️ Please make us aware of special requirements at the time of booking so we can accommodate you the best we can (ie wheelchair access, coming with dogs, room for a pram etc...)
⭐️ All bookings will be allotted a time slot to allow us to complete extra cleaning and sanitising between guests. Please don’t come before your booking time as we may not be able to accommodate a waiting area.
⭐️ Following the government guidelines, the maximum party size is 6 people. That includes children and babies.
⭐️ We are offering table service only. This means you will not be able to order or pay at the bar but one of our lovely team member will be looking after you!
⭐️ We will be operating a cashless service. This means you will only be able to pay by card, contactless or via the app.
⭐️ We have introduced new measures to adhere to government advice on safe distancing. We ask all guests to be understanding of these policies and changes when visiting us.
We can’t wait to welcome you all very soon!

About the Pub
Extended small cottage-style pub in the old part of Whiston, with parts of the building dating back more than 500 years. Opened as a pub in 1891. Recently refurbished, the interior has several small enclaves. There are large gardens at the back and a patio area in front. The car park is across the road. Popular with both drinkers and diners, however it is now more of an eatery. There is a small area for drinkers beside the bar, otherwise the extensive outside areas can be used for drinking only. Recently dogs have been allowed in as long as they're restricted to the slate floor areas. The nearby parish church and stocks are worth visiting. Handy for Ulley Country Park. Beer prices are expensive for the area, though a discount off pints has been introduced for card carrying CAMRA members.
