NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.
Updates
Reopened on July 4th
1) This is new to us. Really new. Hospitality has never ever had to operate in this different world, we were the first to close and have remained as such for the last three months; we have not had a chance to practice this or perfect it like supermarkets have. If you see something that doesn’t seem right, or someone doing something that doesn’t look safe, then say something to the manager or owner. Taking pictures and posting about it on social media or review sites will only cause irreparable damage and also make you look like a bellend. So will reporting it to trading standards or the Environmental health - let the venue know so they can make improvements for everyone.
2) Staff. They are nervous, wary, and probably scared. But they are back at work because this is less scary than losing their job or career. Hospitality staff have a broader range of skills than most other industries, so treat them with the respect they deserve. Don’t be rude, and don’t shout at them - they are doing a job they love in wildly different circumstances so please be courteous, helpful, and follow instructions.
3) Feedback is fine. Shouting about what was “shit” after four gin and tonics is not helpful. If you think you’re a bit squiffy, why not drop in the next day and have a chat with the manager about your experience; you never know you may realise the next day that it was actually all fine and you were just in a shitty mood.
4) Follow the rules, and don’t be a dick. If a pub limits table numbers to six people for example, don’t book for six and turn up with nine. Plus five kids. If numbers are limited, then don’t be a nob if you aren’t allowed in. If they are limiting visit times or numbers of drinks don’t try and find a loophole. Let everyone have their turn at having fun.
5) If you don’t think pubs and restaurants should be open yet, that’s fine. Don’t go. Certainly don’t turn up because your mates have asked you and then spend the night banging on about how they shouldn’t be open. Everyone is doing as the government has advised, not just doing what they please.
6) Drugs - now is not the time. Leave the ket at home.
7) Fighting- see above.
8)Be nice - Hospitality is the backbone of this country, and something all of you have missed tremendously over the last few months. Your support and smiles through what is a challenging and shit scary time will be appreciated, remembered, and treasured. You have the ability to make someone’s day by being nice.
