About the Pub

A focal point for the local community, this rejuvenated stone pub overlooks the attractive village square which has been used as a film and TV set. Built in 1765 for the Wrigley family of chewing gum fame, part of the building was later used as police courts and cells. It has been well renovated with flagged floors throughout and three separate rooms, each with an open fire. The historic function room hosts occasional entertainment including theatre, comedy and music. Annual events such as the Whit Friday Brass Band Contest, Rushcart Festival and Yanks Weekend are popular. A home-cooked menu features weekly specials. Small outside seating areas in front and behind the pub. Monday night special offer has cask beers at just £2.60 per pint.

Reopened in 2021 after COVID
