About the Pub

This is a large imposing, grade II* listed, art deco pub has a revolving door entrance. Built in the 1930's it has high vaulted ceilings and the walls are lined with timber panelling. There is an upstairs cocktail bar that is accessed up a sweeping stairway. There are two striking wall murals, which are on a cricketing theme. The separate public bar houses the pool table and darts. Outside, there is a courtyard drinking area at the back of the pub.

Historic Interest

Asset of Community Value nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA and registered 18th January 2016. Grade II* Listed building (No. 1380283) and built in 1938 by A. C. Wheeler for Hansons Ltd of Kimberley. Fittings by Harris & Sheldon. This was the first public house licensed in West Bridgford in the twentieth century and much expense was undertaken to develop a high-quality, well-fitted establishment. The near- complete survival of the 1930s plan and accompanying fittings is now extremely rare. (Historic England). The Test Match Hotel has an Heritage Interior rated by CAMRA as being of National Importance. As at November 2017, the freehold for the Test Match Hotel (NT33884) was held by Greene King Retailing Limited [Reg. No. 5265451].
