NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Under this stage of the roadmap in England pubs can only open outdoor areas and many will only be open for customers who have pre-booked. Alcohol can now also be sold for takeaway, as well as delivery.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub

Reverted to Spankies name in 2020 after being Re-branded as Albert's in September 2018. Two floored bar close to the Theatre Royal, Rock City and Nottingham Trent University. Popular with all ages for its relaxed atmosphere during the day and trendy bar-like feel in evenings. Industrial ventilation piping runs throughout. The upper floor is open all day. Pop up kitchen evenings Friday to Sunday.

Historic Interest

At one time, Albert's has been called the Tivoli Rock Cafe, the Fair and Firkin, Speakeasy and Spanky Van Dykes. It started life in 1910 as an early cinema, Pringle's Picture Palace. Originally owned by Ralph Pringle, one of the pioneers of British commercial cinema in the early 20th century. Pringle sold it before the start of World War I, when it became Goldsmith's Picture House. During WWII it became the Little Theatre showing rep and then in 1948 it became the Playhouse Theatre until 1963, after which it became a carpet shop (McGrath 2015).
