About the Pub

Built in the 1880s, this pub has two rooms downstairs, and a function room upstairs. Totally refurbished internally and externally in February 2020. The smaller 'snug' is carpeted and has a dartboard and TV. The main bar is spacious and welcoming and along with the corridor area contains a number of individual tables and chairs, complete with vases with flowers.

Historic Interest

A Late Victorian former Shipstone's house with a heritage interior CAMRA rates as Regionally Important. Built of brick with a corner tower the interior is partially opened-out, but retains much original structure. From the corner entrance, on the left is a large plain bar with island servery, a wide corridor with seating behind the servery. Off this, front-right, is an opened-out snug with (unused) bell-pushes. An unusual layout for Nottingham. (www.heritagepubs.org.uk)In 1883, the Newstead Abbey was a beerhouse under Jas. Terry (Wright's Directory).Registered as an Asset of Community Value on the 10th March 2016 and nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA.As at November 2017, the freehold for the Newstead (NT349775) was held by Punch Partnerships (PML) Limited [Reg. No. 3321199]. This was transferred to Patron Capital on the 5th March 2018.[Nottingham City Council, Bulwell Forest Ward / Nottingham North Parliamentary Constituency]
