About the Pub
Historic Interest
Built in 1969 on the site of the old Albert Hotel (www.peelhotels.co.uk). Previous bars here have been called the Captain's Locker, with ship's stern cabin effect and the Boston Bean Company. The current incarnation, Bar 44, presumably takes its name from the hotel's address at 44 Derby Road. As at November 2017, the freehold for the Strathdon Hotel (NT408084) was held by J.
