About the Pub

Originally a farmhouse built in 1550 before becoming a pub in the mid 19th century, this is a very pleasant country pub/restaurant, slightly off the beaten track, but well worth finding. Very good, interesting menu, with a decent selection of well-kept ales, and with a pleasant outside drinking area next to the church. The inside is split between a restaurant and a bar, and the more recent "Cwtch" next to the bar. Now a free house since the Tenants has bought themselves out of tie, and the beer price has dropped!

Historic Interest

The Cefn Mably Oak tree standing in the car park is something of a tree celebrity. It is thought to be one of the oldest in Wales. While some think it was planted a year after the building was completed, its girth suggests it is nearer 800 years old.
