About the Pub

Picturesque early 18th century inn taking its name from the village in which it sits 'Pont Hir' meaning 'Long Bridge'. Inside are several cosy connecting rooms with low beams and some exposed stonework. Two similar sized rooms are either side of the central serving area with one being an extension to the main dining section. Another short counter faces towards the public bar area that has a darts board and historic Newport RFC memorabilia mounted on the wall nearest the bar. Food is very popular here and therefore a good part of the premises is given over to dining. An interesting teapot collection is displayed in the section where food orders are taken. The menu offers a good choice of tasty dishes plus tempting desserts.
