NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub
At the heart of the building is a detached house with a single-storey extension across the front and along one side. Inside the single, reverse L-shaped bar serves the large, comfortable but somewhat featureless open-plan lounge. The beer range features the products of local and regional micros. Run by Steve Pilling, owner of the acclaimed Damson restaurant across the road; they are also involved with the Dockyard pub brand, plus the Dog and Partridge, Heaton Mersey. The Damson connection means that there is a strong food operation, as you might expect. Damson chef Dave Smith, assisted by Billy Yates, runs both kitchens and sources the same ingredients for each too. The menu is available from 12 noon until 8.00pm every day and covers small plates, freshly made pizzas, Pies of the Day, proper burgers and salads. In addition there’s a choice of roast lamb or beef on Sundays. While all the plans for the January 2016 refurbishment haven’t been finalised, it is envisaged that the kitchen will be four times larger once the work is complete. Food will probably play a greater role than it does now, although the Moortop will remain essentially a pub where you can just drop in for a beer or two. Tasters are offered as a matter of course and you can buy a flight of three third pints for £4. History: it stands opposite the Savoy cinema (re-opened in late 2015) on the site of Belmont Terrace. In 1875 six houses were built there and in 1939 Walker & Homfray’s acquired four of those. In 1953 Wilson’s Brewery of Newton Heath subsequently acquired these. Three houses were demolished and, in 1955, the present pub was built.
