About the Pub

Very large dining pub with accommodation lodge attached. Subtly lit throughout, and set on differing levels; decor is a calming mushroom and wood theme. Restaurant area is to the left of the building, whilst the smaller right side holds the casual drink/dine space. Ideally sited for access to Manchester Airport, and the Heald Green rail station.

Historic Interest

Built on the edge of the village by Chesters Brewery of Ardwick in 1935, it opened in early 1936. Threlfalls Brewery of Salford acquired Chesters in 1961, then in 1967 it became part of the vast Whitbread empire. In 1984 Whitbread branded it as a Roast Inn. Then in 1991 yet another rebranding, this time as a Beefeater, with a Premier Inn built alongside in the car park. Thus, it is now much as you see it in the present day.
