About the Pub

A new Planning Application DC/068698 - has been submitted 3/3/18, for the erection of 2 3-bed houses on land adjacent to the original public house. These would effectively form a terrace with the public house. Planning applic 25/9/17 DC/066945 - has been submitted for the addition of new-build two-storey house with rooms in the roof for a nine bedroomed HMO. This would be erected on hard-standing, partly used as parking for the former public house. Planning Application of 31/8/17 DC/066944 - has been submitted for the conversion of this pub into an 8-bedroomed HMO and a self-contained studio flat. (HMO = "house in multiple occupancy"). There was an earlier Application DC/053748 - for the conversion of the existing former public house into two dwellings, demolition of single storey extension and erection of two additional terraced dwellings. This application was approved with conditions on 02/07/2014. As of 14/10/13 as the pub was sold at auction. The pub closed its doors for the final time on 1/4/13. History: at one time, a very busy and popular former Boddington's house. Large L-shaped lounge, with a lower, more spartan vault to the front. With the retirement of the long-term licensee though, came changes of clientele and beers. Keg for some years thereafter, it had changed hands a few times since that time.
