Amber Taverns

About the Pub

A sympathetic and extensive renovation was carried out in 2014, this has created a modern look with a hint of the history of the building being allowed to show through with much dark wood and bare brick. Dramatic use has been made of the former coaching archway, now incorporated to be part of the pub by being glazed front and rear. The bar occupies the middle of the pub, with the right side being more of a vertical drinking area. The outside drinking area a the rear has been kept simple, whilst the historic hanging sign has had a repaint and once again looks magnificent. The owners, Amber Pub Co of Preston re-located the Hogarth's brewery from Bolton to here in November 2018. Beers can thus range from in-house brews such as Cheadle Brewhouse US Triple Hop, and Cheadle Brewhouse Aussie Pale Ale with appear alongside a guest beer such as Pedigree, Hobgoblin, and Deuchars IPA to more locally-produced fare from the likes of Robinsons brewery. Food maybe introduced. The provision of TV screens is very generous, generally showing different sports programmes. History: originally this was a large Greenall's coaching inn of some character. Reopened Sept 2014 following a five-year period of closure.
