About the Pub

Formerly Cheadle rail station and ceasing to hold that function when the line to Stockport - Tiviot Dale was chopped in the 1950s. Given a new focus by Midlands brewer Banks' in the eighties who converted it to pub use. Set low from the road, it can be overlooked yet its distinctive twin-gabled frontage draws you in. Much altered inside to accommodate the pub and dining area, it is a most pleasant place to enjoy a drink or meal. Some tables at the rear allow you to view the occasional freight train passing at close quarters. Everything about the place has that traditional feel to it. A central bar divides the space neatly. Dining pub, yes, but more for the 'grown-ups' rather than the Wacky Warehouse end of the market. Food is daily till 9. The Manchester Mini Club (the car, that is) meets there every Wednesday. As of March 2017, a planning application has been lodged to build a single-storey dining room extension, plus glazed shelter on part of current car park.
