About the Pub

Opened in 2014, the Old Dancer is from the same stable as the Treacle Tap, Macclesfield & the Young Pretender, Congleton, owned by Bronwyn Riley and Tim Sedgwick is a welcome addition to the Wilmslow bar scene. The Old Dancer (named after its previous incarnation) has repeated the successful café-bar formula of Bronwyn's and Tim's other establishments. Seating is mainly at simple wooden tables and chairs on boarded floors but with some additional fixed padded seating. There are two large rooms with a bar in each, the upstairs room normally being open from Thursday to Saturday only but available also for private functions. The walls of both rooms are decorated with some stunning hand-painted murals. The first floor has paintings by local artists and these are changed periodically as the pub is part of the Wilmslow Art Trail.

There are six hand pumps downstairs and three upstairs serving an interesting range of beers of different styles and strengths, including Local Ales, with one pump reserved for cider. Located on Wilmslow's main pedestrian shopping street the Old Dancer is designed to be a welcoming place to drop in for a drink at any time while in town, so as well as the hand pumped ales and cider they serve a wide range of wines and foreign beers and also teas, various coffees and soft drinks. The food choice includes a range of snacks and sandwiches, award-winning Great Northern pies, charcuterie, cake and cheeses. There's a weekly quiz night each Sunday, a free film night on Wednesdays, and live music on Saturdays. There is a writers’ group on the first Monday of each month, a book club on the 2nd Tuesday and a Sci-bar the 3rd Tuesday. There are periodic Meet the Brewer events. In addition board games, cards, newspapers, books and free wi-fi are available.
