About the Pub

This is a historic 1798 canalside alehouse that serves both canal users and locals alike. The front bar is the original building with a modern extension to the rear that is sympathetic to the original. The bar serves good locally sourced food and ales. 3 permanent real ales are on offer and three regular rotation of locally sourced guest beers are served. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the products on sale and proud to serve local ales and foods. Suppliers include Church Farm, Hook Norton and Wye Valley, wines are from Mathew Clarke and meats from Rumps the Butchers. The outside seating area cum garden is along side the Grand Union canal and sometimes busy double lock. Internal decorations include much canal memorabilia including interesting canal maps. Dogs are welcome if on a lead and behaved, similarly with children who are encouraged.
