About the Pub

A busy traditional pub overlooking Harrogate's famous Stray, which is popular with locals and visitors alike, it has been a regular Good Beer Guide entry for the last 20 years. A central bar is surrounded by snugs and alcoves creating a cosy atmosphere. Tables and chairs are provided outside for customers in summer while window boxes create a spectacular display adding year round colour. Eight handpumps dispense four regular and four changing beers usually including a dark beer. Excellent meals are served lunchtimes with frequent themed food evenings. Many of these together with a Sunday night quiz have raised over £1 million for a local children's hospice. The name was temporarily changed to the "Cavendish & Horses" in honour of the local Tour de France cyclist.
