About the Pub

The Gamekeepers is a charming country inn nestling in the lovely thatched village of Mapledurwell. Featuring exposed beams, a fabulous flagstone floor and large garden it boasts views over the surrounding fields and countryside.

The building dates from mid-1800s. If you look carefully in the dining room, you’ll see two bricks on either side of the fireplace; one carved “JP 1854” and the other “EP 1854” referring to Joseph Phillips, the then inn-keeper and his wife Elizabeth.

Good upmarket food is offered from a regularly changing blackboard menu and incorporates ingredients from the owners’ favourite local producers.
