About the Restaurant

Today's Crown and Sceptre was rebuilt in 1964 to replace the old thatched pub which was sadly destroyed by fire in 1962. This centrally located village pub is truly the hub of the community. It serves as the coordination point for the local neighbourhood health watch scheme and has an internet café for local residents. It supports local pool and darts teams, and various charities with events such as a charity duck race on the Shuttern Brook, which runs through the beer garden. There is a regular coffee morning on Fridays and quiz and curry night on the first Tuesday of every month; other regular events feature local musicians and there are occasional beer festivals.

Homemade restaurant meals are available as well as bar snacks and both feature a wide range of local produce. The five handpulls support local brewery beers from the likes of Otter, as well as local cider.

The stream-side beer garden allows children to play on "Mr Twigg" which is a slide and swing play attraction as well as providing adults with a relaxing view of the surrounding countryside. The pub is easily reached by bus from Exeter and Crediton; the bus stops are right outside the door.
