About the Pub

The Well House is a historic tavern located next to Abode Exeter on the Cathedral Yard, and is owned by the celebrity chef Michael Caines. It offers a good selection of real ales sourced from local breweries; with occasional guest beers from other parts of the country. Occasional beer festivals are held, and brewery trips are arranged throughout the summer months. Numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended; phone for details or see blackboard. The Well House is a popular venue for good-value pub food, including Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Why not enjoy your meal at a table overlooking Exeter's beautiful cathedral. Food served all day. In the cellars, that are open to the public, are the old Roman Wells, and the bones on display are thought to be those of a young woman who died from the Black Death plague that ravaged the city in the 14th-century.
